Pinpotha ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your personal information when you use our platform at pinpotha.com and the Pinpotha Android mobile app.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
- Display name and email address (required for registration)
- Profile details you choose to provide: district, gender, birth date, avatar, bio
Content You Create
- Pinkam (good deeds): title, description, category, location, photos, videos, tags
- Comments and replies
- Temple directory contributions
Location Information
The Pinpotha Android app may request access to your device's location only when you choose to pin a location on a pinkam or temple. Location access is entirely optional, used solely to place a map pin, and is never collected in the background or without your explicit action.
Photos and Videos
The app may access your device's photos and videos only when you explicitly choose to attach media to a pinkam. Media files are stored locally on your device and are only uploaded to pinpotha.com when you choose to back up your pinkam to the Community.
Usage Data
- IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps
- Device information for analytics and security
2. Pinpotha Android App — Local Mode
The Pinpotha Android app offers a Local Mode that works completely offline. In Local Mode:
- All pinkam data is stored only on your device
- No personal data is transmitted to our servers
- No account or registration is required
- Location and media access is used only on-device and never uploaded
Community Mode (optional) allows you to back up pinkam to pinpotha.com, sync between devices, and share with the community. Community Mode requires account registration and an internet connection.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account
- To display your pinkam to the community (based on your visibility settings)
- To send account-related emails (verification, anniversary reminders)
- To improve the platform and fix issues
- To process donations (via PayPal — subject to PayPal's privacy policy)
4. Visibility & Privacy Controls
You control who sees your pinkam through three settings:
- Public — visible to everyone including search engines
- Followers only — visible only to users who follow you
- Private — visible only to you
Expenditure amounts you enter are always private and never shown to other users.
5. Data Security
We protect your data using SSL/HTTPS encryption for all data in transit, secure servers with strict access controls, and industry-standard password hashing. Passwords are never stored in plain text.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data to any third party. We may share data with:
- PayPal — for processing donations (their privacy policy applies)
- Law enforcement — if required by applicable law
7. Cookies
We use essential session cookies to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.
8. Children's Privacy
Pinpotha is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Your Rights
- Access your personal data at any time via your profile page
- Correct inaccurate data via profile settings
- Delete your account and all associated data by contacting us
- Unsubscribe from emails via your account settings
- Use the app in Local Mode with no data collection
10. Data Deletion
To request deletion of your account and all personal data, please email us at contact@pinpotha.com or visit your account settings on pinpotha.com. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of significant changes by email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
